How Long Can You Take a Break from DoorDash? (Explained)

People love to work for DoorDash. Who wouldn’t? It’s a great way to make money, and it allows you the freedom that many other jobs don’t have.

The only problem is how long can you take off before being deactivated?

That’s what we’re going to answer in this blog post!

We’ll discuss everything from sick days to vacations, so read on if you need more information about this topic.

Short answer to the question how long can you take a break from Doordash:

Usually if you take a long break from Doordash, they won’t deactivate you. I wouldn’t go out of my way to say it’s impossible though, as i’ve seen on reddit that drivers have come back and they were deactivated.

I would say it’s more unlikely than likely.

What Is Doordash?

Doordash is an on-demand delivery company. Drivers can deliver food and drinks to customers in their area, earning money for each successful Dash. They are most commonly hired by restaurants to be a courier of food from the restaurant to customer’s houses or businesses.

But it’s not only limited to delivering food! Doordash also allows you to deliver other products.

What Does Cause You To Become Deactivated As a Doordash Driver?

If logging out of doordash for a long period of time doesn’t get you deactives, lets dive into what does.

Low Customer Rating:

If you have a rating below 4.2, you can possibly be deactivated. You will have a little bit of time to get it up.

Keep in mind, they won’t always warn you, so always keep an eye on your rating and make sure it’s up to par.

Many doordash drivers think this unfair because Doordash drivers can’t rate the customer back.

Completion Rate:

A completion rate below 80% can possibly get you deactivated.

Completion rate is the amount of deliveries you accept and complete. So if you’re running short on time and aren’t sure if you can complete the delivery that pops up in the dasher app, don’t accept it.

Having a low completion rate in combination with a low customer rating can lead to immediate deactivation.

Be Kind To Customers:

As a Doordash driver, it’s important to be kind and polite. Customers rate their drivers on how they treated them during the delivery process.

If you’re not being nice to customers or are flat out rude, this can get you deactivated much faster than other issues such as low ratings.

Customers have the right to report you to Doordash for being rude.

If this happens you have to contact Doordash support to tell your point of view of what happened.

Also Be Kind To The Restaurant Employees:

Even if they don’t seem like they have your best interest in mind , be kind to the restaurant employees. If you’re rude, just like the customers , they can report you to Doordash.

If you feel like the situation was definitely not your fault you have to go out of your way contact door dash.

Extreme Lateness:

If you’re commonly to late for deliveries, this can be a reason for deactivation.

Serious Traffic Violations:

As a doordash delivery driver if you’re caught speeding or committing a serious traffic violation, this can also get you deactivated.

Doordash does constant background checks to make sure you’re still in good standing with them and that you’re safe to drive for them.

The time between background checks varies depending on the state and city, but it can be as little as three months. If they find out something wasn’t right in your past, even if its minor , this could get you deactivated faster than other offenses such as speeding or traffic violations.

Other Questions:

If you get a new car, do you have to update it within the Doordash app?

Thankfully no. You don’t have to update your car information as soon as you get a new vehicle, but it definitely can’t hurt you if you do.

You do have to make changes however when you’re using a different type of vehicle. Lets say you chance from car to bike, you then have to change the vehicle type within the Door dash app.

If for some reason you get deactivated from DoorDash, can you get reactivated?

When you get deactivated, Doordash has an appeals process which allows you to plead your case and get back to work.

Conclusion:

If you’re looking to take a couple months off from the Doordash platform, you should be good to go.

In the case you do get deactivated, you know exactly what to do.

Here’s an article explaining the deactivation process in a little more detail.

If you have any stories about how you got deactivated, please leave it in the comments below.
