How Do You Make Money On Tiktok? (7 ways)

Tiktok is a waste of time.

Tiktok is just a silly app for kids and has no use for adults.

If you spend to much time on Tiktok every day you’re just wasting your time.

Much like Youtube, users on Tiktok use up all of their time just consuming content to get a good laugh and get entertainment. Little do they know Tiktok users could actually utilize Tiktok to make money. If you didn’t know there are actually a lot of ways to make money on Tiktok. In this article were going to go over the question at hand; How Do You Make Money On Tiktok?

Utilize Tiktok For Your Youtube Channel

Tiktok, if you pump out a lot of content on a daily basis gives you a lot of free traffic. If you have your own youtube channel or blog, you can re-purpose the content into shorter and more entertaining Tiktok videos in order to drive traffic to your blog or Youtube Channel. If you have a Tiktok business account, you can post your blog link in the description of your account and let the free traffic flow in to your blog. You can also link your Youtube channel next to the follow button. I now am subscribed to multiple channels on Youtube because I came across an interesting video on Tiktok that I wanted to learn more about.

If you already have a youtube channel, you can take snippets of your videos or just record much shorter videos for Tiktok and watch the traffic roll in. This will increase your Google Ad Revenue on Youtube and maybe increase your course sales as well just from posting on Tiktok.

Sponsorships

Sponsorships are popular on Instagram, and they are also very popular on Tiktok. Addison Rae, if you don’t know who she is, she’s arguably the most popular Tiktoker on the platform. According to this Quora article Addison makes $21,000 per Tiktok, and these numbers are most likely a little outdated. Even if you built yourself up to be a micro-influencer with 100,000 followers, you should be able to pull in a good amount of money for sponsorships. Even for the simple videos of girls or guys dancing and doing dance challenges, record labels or even independent artists themselves are looking to push their music on Tiktok and go viral on their in order to increase their song revenue.

Affiliate Links

Affiliate marketing is something that is very simple to do on Tiktok. Due to the attention span of most people these days, a very short product review could do the trick. I’ve seen a great amount of people on Tiktok talk about cool Amazon products that solve big problems. Some Tiktok creators make over 100’s of videos reviewing these products. They then direct the people who watch these videos and are potentially interested in the product and they send them to their blog link where they can go and get the products directly. If the person clicks the link and purchases that product via Amazon, the creator then gets a commission. One other great feature on the Amazon associates program is even if that person doesn’t buy that product, and they end up buying something else, the creator will still get the commission for that other product. Amazon affiliate links last up to 24 hours, so whatever those people buy within that 24 hours, is money coming to the creator.

So if you put in a bunch of work upfront, reviewing products and posting on Tiktok, you could potentially make passive income for months or years to come.

Live Streaming on Tiktok

The live stream feature on Tiktok could bring a lot of income to certain users. Basically, Tiktok has a donation option for users who go live. This way of income is very tough. You need to be a creator that has a lot of people that really enjoy your content in order to get enough donations to make some good money. Nonetheless, making 5 dollars for going live for 10 minutes may not be so bad.

I personally wouldn’t put this first before all of the other monetization strategies, but if you have a big following and some free time, it can’t hurt

Tiktok Creator Fund

The Tiktok Creator Fund was created back in July 2020. This fund pays Tiktok creators based on how many views their videos get. In order to get accepted to the Tiktok Creator Fund, you need at least 100,000 followers and you also need 100,000 video views in the last 30 days. Creators that are accepted in the Tiktok Creator Fund get paid .2 to .4 cents per 1,000 views. If a creator is accepted into the fund and they end up getting 1,000,000 views on a video they will be paid on average $2,000.

If you combine this with the strategies I listed above, you can have a Youtube Channel and be making money from google ad sense, reuse that same content on Tiktok and make extra money there as well.

Using Shopify To Make Money On Tiktok

Tiktok and Shopify have a partnership that allows Shopify users to launch ads directly to Tiktok from the Spotify platform. All you have to do is have a Shopify store, download the Tiktok extension and you can get started making your own Ads on Tiktok. Make sure you do your due diligence and get the right products to push to the Tiktok platform. My honest opinion is to be careful with this because the audience of Tiktok, although the age average is rising, they are still pretty young and don’t have that much buying power. I’d push products that would have kids begging their parents to buy them. Even then it may be hard.

Creating a Niche Tiktok Account

Much like Instagram, I’ve seen many Tiktok accounts that are niche based. I’ve seen pages devoted to Hiphop, Singers, motivation, sports and many other niches. Just like on Instagram, people post popular videos in those niches to grow a big following. After a while of growing that following, they will then use the account to make money. They can first off sell the account if they want, and make good money on the following they built. They also can also use their big following in the same way that regular creators do and sell sponsored posts to brands or people. For instance, if the Tiktok account is in the singing niche, and a singer wants to get posted on your page, you can sell them a spot on your page. If you have an Instagram account with the same niche, you can direct traffic from your Tikok straight to your Instagram account and you can make money on promotions from both pages. Essentially you’re now a big brand.

Take Aways

Tiktok is a great platform to make money on, and although the free traffic is going to reduce over time (in my opinion), I would take advantage of it now before it’s to late. Tiktok reminds me of Instagram in 2015, where the organic traffic and viral content was at an all time high. All you had to do was post on a consistent basis and you were going to gain followers. Eventually, I think Tiktok may take a page out of Instagram’s book and slow down the organic traffic in return for more of a pay to play type of deal. In the meanwhile, leverage Tiktok to grow not only on their platform, but your Youtube account, Instagram account and other platforms.

Tiktok is no longer a kids app anymore and people need to start taking it seriously.
