YouTube has turned into a career or side hustle for so many people. If you’re someone who is thinking about getting started on your own YouTube journey, a question that may pop up in your head is, “how long will YouTube last?”. So is there a definitive answer to this question?
It’s safe to say that unless something drastic happens, that YouTube will be around for a long time. The growth of video content is only growing and will continue to grow, and YouTube is the number one platform for hosting this type of content. There may be other competitors that rise up, but as of now, YouTube is the clear leader in the video content space. So if you’re worried about whether or not your new side hustle will last, don’t be too concerned about YouTube’s longevity.
Below I will go over some reasons why I believe YouTube is here to stay.
YouTube is Going With The Trends
YouTube isn’t just resting on their laurels. They are going with the times. TikTok came around and blew up, and YouTube responded by allowing you to create your own short videos.
This is something that is encouraging when thinking about the long term for YouTube. They aren’t afraid to adapt and change with the times, which increases their likelihood of staying relevant in the future.
The thing that is most encouraging about YouTube is the fact that they always implement things to help creators and watchers. One example is chapters, which allow creators to break up their videos into sections for easy navigation. This is something that benefits both creators and watchers, as it helps the creator have a better organized video and allows the watcher to find what they are looking for more easily.
Over time I’m confident this will continue, as YouTube listens to their community and always implements changes that will benefit both creators and viewers.
Video Is Growing
As we said in the intro paragraph, video search is growing year over year. According to Ahrefs YouTube is the number one visited website in the world, beating out even Google.
If that doesn’t tell you enough in regards to how popular video content is, I don’t know what will.
Starting your YouTube side hustle will only allow you to get on board with this growth, and potentially reap the benefits as well.
What Will Replace YouTube In The Future?
There’s no other platform that is even competing with YouTube at this time, which makes it hard to imagine what could replace it. However with changes in technology like virtual reality and things like that, it’s hard to predict what will happen.
Let’s take blockbuster for example, they were the top dog in the movie rental industry for a long time. But then streaming services like Netflix took over and now Blockbuster is almost non-existent.
Although that was Blockbusters fate, I can’t see YouTube falling into the same trap. They are always adapting, evolving and implementing changes to keep up with the times.
In Summary
If your question of how long YouTube will last is in regards to whether or not you should get started with your YouTube side hustle, don’t worry too much about it.
Get started with your side hustle, and stop worrying about the negative aspects of what could happen and start focusing on the positives of getting started with your journey.
