Pros and Cons: Working For Instacart

Instacart Pros:

No Contact with People

If you’re someone that doesn’t like people in their car Instacart is a perfect option for you.

There is minimal contact with other people except for when you’re doing the shopping. You mostly just leave the groceries on the front steps without having to talk to anyone.

Flexibility

With Instacart you have a lot of flexibility. You can start working whenever you have free time.

Exercise

You are constantly walking around the store, so not only are you making money but you are getting a workout in at the same time.

Learn Customer Service

With Instacart it’s good to have good customer service. For instance if the store doesn’t have certain products it’s good to message the customer and see what they prefer.

It’s also good to give them time updates and just talk to them in general to show you care.

Seeing Things Your Family May Like

When you go shopping a lot for Instacart you may get a good amount of different grocery options.

Sometimes you may see some things that may be good for your family to start buying in your own grocery list.

Instacart Cons:

Not 24/7:

Instacart hours go from 9 a.m to midnight.

So if you’re one of those people that think they can work as late as they want with instacart you can’t. Once midnight hits, you’re done.

No Customer Ratings:

As an Instacart driver customers can rate you, but when you find yourself shopping for a rude customer, you can’t leave them a rating.

This is tough because if you knew the difficult customers you’d have the option to not take their orders.

It May Take a While To Get In a Groove

When You’re working for Instacart, you can go and shop at different locations.

This makes it hard to know where all the products are and find things in a fast manner.

Usually each store is set up similar no matter the location so after a while you will get it, it will just take a lot of time to figure everything out. Which will give you less time to make money.

Some Days Are Very Slow

The more orders you have the better off you will be. If there are days where it’s too slow, and your not getting many orders then that could get frustrating.

Pros and Cons: Working For Uber Eats

Pros of Delivering For Uber Eats:

Choose Your Own Hours

You can choose your own hours and work as long as you want to.

If you’re bored on weekend you can literally go out at 9 p.m and start working.

No Hours Limit

You can literally work 24 hours if you want. As long as you’re not tired and you can keep going, go for it.

Don’t put anyone in danger by driving while tired.

Instant Pay

Literally as soon as you’re done working the app within seconds. This is great if you need quick money to pay something off.

Cons of Delivering For Uber Eats:

Traffic

Sometimes sitting in traffic can really slow down your hourly rate.

Working during rush hour may be tough sometimes. It may be good to wait until after rush hour to start working during the week.

On the weekends you shouldn’t have that much of a problem.

Waiting At Restaurants

Some times you may have to wait at restaurants for a long period of time which is not fun.

Some restaurants make you go up and order the items for the customer which takes even longer.

Unknown Desitinations

You don’t know where you’re going until you accept and pick up the order.

This may not be good for some people who don’t want to go to certain areas for safety reasons.

Does Instacart or Uber Eats Pay Better?

There are a lot of factors that play a role in which pays better. If you are an extremely efficient food shopper, Instacart may be right for you.

If you live in a highly populated area, with a lot of restaurants, Uber Eats may earn a little bit more.

Id suggest you try out both Instacart and Uber Eats and see the results you get.

Instacart may pay more per delivery but if you’re not efficient that’s not going to matter as much.

Your hourly pay will vary based on a lot of factors.

Is Uber Eats or Instacart Better to Work For?

There a few factors that may make you choose Instacart over Uber Eats or vice versa.

Money comes into play but there are other things that may change your mind.

Do You like driving?

If you’re someone who likes driving Uber Eats may be better for you, but if you’re someone who doesn’t like to drive as much Instacart may be good to. With Instacart you spend more time inside the store rather than driving around.

Do You Enjoy Grocery Shopping?

To some people going to grocery stores is therapeutic. If this is how you feel about grocery shopping, you might want to work for instacart.

You’ll be making money doing something you enjoy.

Do You Like Going Out To Eat?

If you’re a person who likes to enjoy themselves and go out to eat every once in a while, delivering with Uber Eats may help you find new hidden gems when it comes to local restaurants.

I know this decision is more based on making money but this may help you decide if you’re stuck in the middle.

Are You a Night Owl?

If you’re a night owl, uber eats is a better choice for you.

If you like to deliver after 12 a.m Uber Eats is the right choice because after that time you won’t get any orders on Instacart due to them stopping all orders at that time.

Instacart will probably significantly slow down way before midnight as well.

Are You Able To Lift Heavier Items

With Instacart, chances are you’re going to have to lift heavier grocery bags.

When you deliver with Uber Eats you really won’t have to carry anything that heavy.

This may play a factor if you feel you’re not that strong or aren’t able to lift heavier items.

Do You Live in a High Traffic Area?

Sometimes delivering by car may not be beneficial due to the fact that there is a lot of traffic in a city.

You may want to take this into consideration when comparing Instacart and Uber Eats.

If you live in a high traffic area like this, you may want to consider delivering via bike.

In this case working for Uber Eats is probably the better option because hauling groceries around a city is not really the greatest idea.

Conclusion:

I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these apps. I think they are both good and the only way you’re going to know which one is better is by trying both of them.

I hope this blog post helped you decide whether you’d like to use the grocery delivery app, Instacart or deliver food on Uber Eats.
