Why Do I Keep Getting Signed Out of Coinbase?

Coinbase, an almost universally beloved cryptocurrency trading platform, is the go to app for buying, selling, and storing cryptocurrencies today. Polished, fast, and secure Coinbase is a modern marvel – but it’s not without flaws or drawbacks.

In fact, one of the biggest headaches of Coinbase is getting consistently logged out. There are a couple of reasons this can happen (and some quick fixes) and we highlight them below.

Let’s get right into it!

Why Do I Keep Getting Signed Out of Coinbase?

Few things are as frustrating as firing up Coinbase to jump on a crypto opportunity (either buying or selling) only to find yourself automatically logged out of the platform.

Worse, this happens a whole lot more frequently than it should – especially with how polished, how secure, and how consistently good the Coinbase platform is otherwise.

Luckily, though, you should know that the overwhelming majority of Coinbase log outs have nothing to do with you.

Almost all of them have to do with instabilities and bugs in the app itself, issues that can be ironed out pretty easily – especially if you stick to the details we highlight below.

How to Fix Coinbase Sign In Errors

In an ideal world you wouldn’t ever have to worry about knowing how to fix Coinbase sign in (and sign out) errors. Coinbase themselves would jump on the spot, fix the problems “under the hood” and make sure that this kind of stuff never happened again.

While we are sure that the Coinbase developers are doing absolutely everything they can to track down these bugs and iron them out of the system, we don’t live in that ideal world right now – and you’ll need to know the fixes we highlight below to get Coinbase working for you again.

Clear the Cache

The simplest of the fixes we recommend are to go into your device (usually your phone or tablet), find the applications settings section, and then clear the cash (as well as the temporary data) for your Coinbase application.

From start to finish this whole process is going to take about 30 seconds – maybe even faster if you know exactly how to navigate these settings.

You won’t be deleting any settings, you won’t have to start your account from scratch. You’ll only be clearing out all the temporary “gunk” that these apps leave behind every time you open them up and use them. The kind of gunk that might be causing the logout error in the first place.

Update Your App

Another common culprit that leads to you getting signed out of your Coinbase app inadvertently is and out of date installation or version of Coinbase.

As we highlighted a moment ago, we know that the Coinbase developers are always tracking down bugs, improving features, security, and stability, and generally just making the Coinbase app other than it was before.

It’s possible that the bug causing your account to be logged out inadvertently (and without any input from you at all) is something that the developers have caught, and have fixed.

All you have to do is initiate the update process on your device rather than wait for the update to push itself to your device all on its own.

Now you should be good to go!

Clean Out the Memory of Your Device

This process is a little bit more involved (and the step-by-step process will differ depending on the kind of device you are using), but sometimes memory errors from your device can lead to trouble in the Coinbase app.

Because this process is so individual depending on the type of device that you are working with it’s important that you look up the process for your device specifically.

Follow directions, step-by-step, and it should take you about 30 seconds to 60 seconds to get everything squared away.

You’ll almost always have to restart your device as well to allow the memory fix to finalize. That’s maybe another 30 seconds to 60 seconds for your device to fully reboot. But now you’re off to the races with a Coinbase app that should work the way you want it to.

Uninstall Then Reinstall the App

This is a bit of a “nuclear option” but it’s an option that you may have to consider all the same if none of the other solutions work.

All you have to do is uninstall your Coinbase application from your device. Completely uninstall the application, too – not just shut it down, pause it, or close it from the app window.

We are talking turn it off, shut it down, and then uninstall the application from your device entirely.

After that has been taken care of you’ll want to restart your device, too. This guarantees that any of the temp files that might have been left behind are “flushed” from the system.

From here, all that’s left to do is reinstall the most current and up-to-date version of the app from your respective App Store (the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store), let the installation finalize, and then punch in your account credentials.

You won’t have to start from scratch (since all of your account details are held in the cloud by Coinbase) but you will have a fresh installation that shouldn’t cause you the same headache and hassle it has been.

Closing Thoughts

There you have it – that’s really all there is to clearing up the Coinbase issue of your account continuously logging you out (often times when you least expect it to).

The four steps we highlighted above will almost always fix whatever is causing the issue. Make sure you follow those steps in order, as they go from the least “intrusive” solutions to the most involved.

At the end of the day, though, it won’t take much to get Coinbase behaving the way it should again.
