Blogging is a great side hustle or even full-time job for some people that can be very rewarding. One common question that comes up is how hard it is to make money blogging? In this blog post, we will go over the process of making money blogging, how much time it takes to make some money and more.
Answer To The Question How Hard Is It To Make Money Blogging:
Nothing is that hard when you’re prepared. Although becoming a successful blogger seems like a daunting task, if you’re prepared and put in the hard work you need to put in, you will be successful.
Below are some things to take into consideration when it comes to becoming a blogger!
Blogging Takes a Lot Of Time
It’s not necessarily that blogging is so hard. It’s that it takes a lot of time to pick up traction. They say the average blog post takes eight months to see any real amount of traffic.
This is where people come in and say making money blogging is too hard, but in reality, they just aren’t being patient enough.
For example, on this blog, it took me about one hundred posts before I ever even got a little bit of traffic. I stuck it out though and now my traffic is growing every single month.
Working on delayed gratification is the greatest skill anyone can learn. In a world where people get satisfied by watching a ten-second social media post, you need to be the person that can focus for hours at a time on the task at hand.
You Need To Have The Right Keyword Research Process
Many people wing it and start blogging out of nowhere. This results in them writing about topics that huge blogs write about that they will never outrank.
When you’re starting out you need to know act like a small blog. Finding long tail keywords that don’t have a lot of competition and writing the very best blog post about those keywords is the way to go.
Eventually, you will have more and more domain authority and be able to write about pretty much anything and get lots of traffic.
You Need To Pay Attention To The Google Guidelines
Without following the Google guidelines, your blog will never grow. They are extremely good at spotting spammy articles and penalizing sites that publish them.
You Have To Be Constantly Learning
Let’s get this straight. If you’re not constantly learning, everything will be hard. If you’re not learning how to do the right things, you will be stuck with low traffic for months or even years.
Blogging is a passion of mine and I am always looking into new ways that I can improve my blog, get more traffic and make more money. This helps me become better at blogging which allows me to accomplish my goals.
Any business changes over time and if you don’t stay in tune with the changes you will fail. It’s as simple as that.
Below are a few ways you can keep up to date with blogging information.
Courses
Consider buying a course that will help you get the most out of your money. I signed up for the Passive income geek course by Morten Storgaard in which I paid $300 upfront and will pay $99 per to stay up to date with all the right blogging practices.
Youtube
There are plenty of bloggers out there on Youtube that have case studies for their blogs and talk about the latest changes in blogging. I watch the bloggers that are doing well so I can learn from them and improve myself.
Some of my favorite Youtubers in the blogging industry include Carl Broadbent, Shaun Marrs and of course the Passive Income Geek channel by Morten Storgaard.
I also have my own channel documenting my blogging journey called the Idle Income Channel. Check it out Here!
Read Books Within Your Niche
Other than learning about blogging in general. You can also learn about the niche your site is in. If you read books about your niche it will help you to be more knowledgeable in that niche and give you an advantage over all the other bloggers. It can help you come up with new keywords and content you can write on your blog.
You Have To Like Doing It
If you don’t have a passion for it, chances are you will find it hard. Have you ever had a full-time job that just drained your energy? If you feel the same way about writing then blogging will be hard for you.
Pick The Right Niche
When it comes to liking blogging, the niche you choose is extremely important. Don’t worry about competition as much as the love you have for the topic. Even if it’s extremely competitive, if you love it you will find a way to stand out from the crowd.
Also, the competitive niches often pay out a lot of money for ads which is a plus.
You Need a Schedule
If you don’t schedule out your posts the right way it can hurt your blog. You want to have a set schedule that repeats month after month so you never miss a post, don’t run out of content to write about and always have fresh content for your readers. This is super important in blogging so make sure you consider this if you are just starting.
Right now I have hundreds of posts that need to be written and once every couple of weeks I research to add even more to my list.
Momentum is the most important thing I have found with blogging. Once you get a steady flow of traffic, then more people will come and your site will snowball into something that can potentially make you a full-time income.
Conclusion
Now that you know that blogging isn’t actually that hard and that it takes plenty of preparation, what are you waiting for? If you like to write then it’s perfect for you.
