On the other hand, let’s say you’re in the home and garden niche. You could write an article on how to choose the best potting soil for plants. That article will be evergreen because the fundamentals of potting soil haven’t changed and likely won’t change for a while.
It’s possible to choose a niche that doesn’t have evergreen potential, but be ready to update content on a yearly basis (which isn’t fun).
Use Methods That Turn Your Time Into Traffic
Many affiliate marketers are looking for instant sales. They’ll go on Twitter and reply to every tweet that has to do with their product. Although this is a decent method, and it could get you a sale here and there, it’s not what we want as affiliate marketers.
The main goal is to make money in your sleep, and this is why you need to use methods that turn your time into traffic.
Ways you could do this include, creating a blog and ranking it in Google, creating YouTube videos and ranking them, or creating a Facebook page and driving traffic to it by creating a large community that has discussions about your product.
These types of methods are ideal because they allow you to scale. Once you have traffic coming in you’ll make more money. The more money you make, the more you can outsource your content and allow the business to work for itself. You can’t really do that with the first method I mentioned which is why this point is so important.
Giving True Value In Regards To Your Product
Many affiliate marketers write articles called “Best X Product” and then go on to review the product they’re promoting. Although this is a decent way to get sales, it’s not an effective long term strategy.
A better strategy (which we mentioned above) is to find underserved questions about that product, and then answer that question within a blog post. If a person reads your article and you’ve given them true value, they’re much more likely to buy the product you’re promoting.
The reason this works better is because you’re not selling, you’re helping. Affiliate marketing should be about helping people, not selling to them. When you help people they are more likely to reciprocate and buy from you.
