Working For Wonolo: Things You Should Know

The gig economy is booming and it’s not going anywhere. As a result, companies like Wonolo are popping up all over the internet to meet this need for more flexible work opportunities. If you’re looking for one of these gigs, you might be wondering what type of benefits come with working for them. This blog post will mention some things that you should know before taking on any job at Wonolo.

Wonolo

What is Wonolo?

Wonolo is like Uber, but for temporary jobs. We’re not exactly sure how these companies classify as “temporary”, because the average gig on Wonolo lasts four days.

This job can be anything from delivering packages to moving furniture and standing in line at a retail store (just to name a few). When you go online to search for jobs on the Wonolo app, you’ll be able to see what type of job openings we currently have in your area. You can then accept or decline any of these opportunities and let us know when it’s most convenient for you to work (in case your schedule is tight).

Some of these jobs can even end up turning into a full time job if the company likes the way you work.

Does Wonolo give a W2?

Wonolo offers both 1099 and also W-2 jobs. The type of job you get depends on the company that is hiring.

Some companies don’t want people to work for them as 1099 employees.

The main reason is because as independent contractors under a 1099, people can typically choose whether or not they want to come to work much easier. This makes people more unreliable and leaves companies without workers more often.

Does Wonolo Take Taxes?

In most cases as a Wonoloer, you will be responsible for your own taxes.

However, as mentioned above, you may be working for some companies under a W-2. In that case they will be withholding taxes.

Does Wonolo Pay On Same Day?

When you work a job for Wonolo, usually you get paid the very next day. In some circumstances it could take a bit longer but it can be within 1-5 days.

Does Wonolo Pay On Weekends?

Most banks don’t do transfers during the weekend. So, we will typically hold on to your money until Monday and then transfer you through a direct deposit into your checking or savings account (depending on what type of job it is).

Does Wonolo Drug Test?

Wonolo has three requirements for accepting jobs and they are :

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must provide a valid social security number or your company’s EIN if you do not have one.
  • To clock in and out of your job, you’ll need access to a smartphone.

When searching for drug test in the Wonolo website search box we didn’t find anything in regards to drug tests.

There is a possibility though, that some companies may require it in order for you to work for them. So don’t be surprised if you are asked for different jobs.
