One per day is a good way to go about it (if you can come up with the content). It shouldn’t be to hard to come up with the content being you’re getting content from your longer videos.
You can possible get 2-3 YouTube shorts out of one long form video depending on how much content it has.

Adding shorts to your channel can have some downfalls. Some of your subscribers may be opposed to shorts therefor you may end up with people who unsubscribe.
Overall if you do it the right way though, you should get an increase in watch time, subscribers and even make a little bit more money.

This is the tricky part. Don’t just post videos that have nothing to do with your channel. The videos that you post should be in complete alignment with your overall branding strategy.
Lets say in your Youtube channel you talk about digital marketing. When you post a regular YouTube video you may post a video along the lines of “5 Best Ways To Increase Your Traffic Using Landing Pages”.
On the other hand when you post a Youtube short you should post very quick tips that are about digital marketing like “How To Make A Landing Page In Google Docs”.
This will add value to your subscribers instead of scaring them away.

YouTube shorts are normal videos that you can monetize. You may not get as many views and the monetization may not be as high as regular videos but it can add up.
The thing is though, YouTube shorts don’t make money when they are viewed in the shorts self. They only make money when they are viewed through the other traffic sources on Youtube including browsing and recommended videos.
