Why You Aren’t Making Money With Affiliate Marketing

You’ve probably heard that there are so many people making a full time income with affiliate marketing. They all talk about how they wake up in the morning with more money in their bank account.

If you just started your own affiliate marketing company, and aren’t bringing in the income you think you should be, the question you may have is why.

There are so many variables when it comes to making money with affiliate marketing. So it’s hard to pin point exactly what is holding you back. In this blog post we will go over some of the most common reasons why you may not be making money with affiliate marketing. In This blog post we will go over:

  • Learn About The Platforms You’re Posting On
  • Lack Of Patience
  • Keep Affiliate Marketing The Main Thing
  • Need To Give Value
  • People Don’t Believe In Themselves

You Need To Learn More About The Platforms You’re Posting On

Whether it’s YouTube or a blog, you need to learn about how to be successful on those platforms. Many people think it’s ok to just go ahead and post away after learning about affiliate marketing.

It’s a good thing that you’re excited to get your business started, however, it’s also important to take the time to learn about the platform you’re using. Each platform has a different algorithm and if you don’t take the time to learn it, you will be posting for no reason.

Of course by posting frequently you could learn different things on the fly, but I don’t recommend doing this as there are plenty of free resources that could give you a complete head start.

Lack Of Patience

People don’t realize that the affiliate marketers that are making a lot money via affiliate marketing have been at it for years (most likely). Anything less is a miracle.

So, if you’ve been someone that has been posting for three or four months and haven’t seen a good amount of income, this is why.

I hate to break to you, but three months worth of work is really nothing at all, and if you want to build a full time income, you need to put your head down and keep working.

One thing that I do personally, is set yearly goals, and I rarely focus on the income aspect. For example my goal for this blog was to write 1000 posts. Right now I’m at about 700. I’m not going to lie, I look at my income here and there, but my main focus is the 1000 posts.

This does two things. It delays gratification, which is great for building character, and it also builds my skills. By the time I wrote 500 blog posts I was 10x better than when I wrote my first, and by the time I write 1000, I will be 10x better than when I wrote my 500th.

Get yourself a content schedule, follow it to a tee, and then you will see the income start to flow.

Keep Affiliate Marketing The Main Thing

What people fail to do in todays world is focus on one thing. This is because the internet is set up to lower our attention span. Before we know it, we are on Facebook, then Instagram, then Twitter, and before you know it the day is over.

This makes it very easy for us to see another business opportunity, and run towards it as if affiliate marketing never existed.

One way to negate this, is to only follow people on Instagram who give value in regards to your goals.

I hate to keep talking about myself, but for example, I only follow people in the blogging and entrepreneurship space. This way my feed is constantly filled with value and inspiration to succeed in those fields.

Every time I open my Instagram, I see a motivational video, or a video about blogging. This really motivates me to start working.

I also only subscribe to people on YouTube who motivate me to get work done, or teach me about business.

Now we’re not saying you can’t start other business ventures, but if you want to be successful, you need to focus on one at a time.

Focus On Giving Value

It’s easy as an affiliate marketer to fall into the trap of just talking about the features of certain products. This is the wrong way to go about things.

You need to be able to give good value. One way to do this is by answering questions that aren’t frequently answered about the product. If you could do this, people will be more inclined to click on your affiliate link because you actually helped them out.

These questions often are the last questions people need before making a purchase, which is why answering all of them is a great way to give the value needed to make more affiliate sales.

One tool that could really help you get these topics is called Keywordchef.com, which gives you underserved questions when you type in a keyword.

People Don’t Think It’s Actually Possible For Them

When you first hear about affiliate marketing, it can seem like this thing where only a select few make money. It’s easy to believe that you’ll never be one of those people.

Combine this with the attention span thing we spoke about above and people quickly give up.

The way I look at it is by outworking the competition. Let’s say you want to start an affiliate niche blog in fitness. You may say, “there are too many fitness bloggers out there, I can never make it.”

But instead of saying that, ask the question how many fitness bloggers are out there that have posted 10,000 blog posts. The answer goes from millions to only a few hundred or thousand.

If you’re going to start a business, you need to believe that it’s possible for you.

Conclusion

As you could see there are many reasons why people can’t get it together when it comes to making money via affiliate marketing. If you’re one of those people, take a deep look into all of these reasons and see if you could improve in these area.
