A YouTube niche is basically the category of videos you make. For example gaming, travel, finance, beauty, cooking etc. The great thing about niches is there are many subtopics you can choose from.
For example gaming could be a niche by its own which you can split into battlefield, Counter Strike GO, Call of Duty etc. For finance you can make a lot of videos on how to save money, pay off debts and other important financial lessons. so keep in mind when you’re choosing a competitive niche, you can dive down into subcategories as well and be an expert in a more specific field.
How Do You Find My YouTube Niche?
Choosing your niche requires a lot of self reflection. There are many questions you should ask yourself. For example:
What do I like talking about?
What do I like watching videos on YouTube ?
Who are my favorite YouTubers ?
After asking yourself all of these questions you can get a general idea of what kind of niche would suit you best and be profitable.
I always recommend choosing a niche based on things you like doing and talking about, because if you don’t enjoy your content then it’s not worth it. It can feel so boring to wake up and make videos on a topic you don’t like.
This is the main reason why people quit after a week or two. Don’t pick a boring niche just because it’s popular and makes money.
What kind of YouTube channels are most successful?
When it comes to being successful on YouTube just about anyone can be successful. There are some channels that have an advantage though. Any niche that has high advertising revenue is a good place to start.
You have to start where the money is. That’s why when people make finance channels they make a lot of money. Investing platforms and other finance companies pay a lot of money to advertise on those channels.
Just like any other type of advertising companies want to target specific audience and that’s why they pay a lot of money for their ads to be displayed on different types of videos.
Another example is the golf niche. When you look at their age and financial situation most golfers are willing to spend money on different accessories, equipment and other golf related products which can be advertised on your channels videos.
The more money involved in your niche the higher you will get paid per 1000 views on YouTube. Some financial channels make $30-$50 per 1000 views on their channel which is insane.
Don’t Go After a Niche Just For The CPM
When you’re choosing your YouTube niche, don’t focus on the CPM (cost per thousand views). Some niches pay a lot of money but are very competitive.
If you go in after a very competitive niche like finance it will be much harder to grow because there are so many big YouTubers competing in those niches.
One thing though, if you are truly passionate about finance although there is a lot of competition there is plenty of money to go around. If you know what you’re talking about don’t hesitate to get yourself out there and start your channel. Just be ready to put your own twist on it. What works for me might not work for you.
You just have to get creative and look at the angles others haven’t found so far, or find a new strategy to beat your competitors.
So when choosing a YouTube niche keep in mind that getting into a very competitive niche with high CPM can be hard but also very rewarding. So you have to find a good balance between getting in where it’s profitable but not so competitive that its hard to grow your channel

You’re one of one. No one on this earth is exactly like you so show your audience who YOU are. When it comes to my YouTube channel I never try to be anyone else but myself. Being yourself and showing your true character will attract an audience of viewers who can relate to you and want to watch more of your videos.
Come up with fresh new content ideas
Look up trending new in the field you’re in constantly and take notes. What works and what doesn’t? The goal here is to come up with fresh ideas that haven’t been done before and still be relevant.
Utilize other social media platforms to stand out
Utilizing social media platforms outside of YouTube can help you stand out in your field. This is a great way to find new ways to promote your YouTube channel and get more people interested in what you have to share!
Don’t Reinvent The Wheel
If you see something working for someone else don’t be afraid to try it yourself. Just be sure to not copy completely and put your own twist on it. Something I love to do is take a successful formula and adjust it to fit my own brand and audience.

It’s not easy to stand out in any niche so you have to take advantage of other peoples mistakes and put yourself out there as much as possible.
